Feed instructions
The recommended feeding advice is 2 boluses per calf (with rumen functionality) from 3 months of age. The bolus begins to dissolve slowly on the flat side and the coating around the bolus ensures that the bolus dissolves gradually over a period of 180 days (6 months). The administration of two boluses is necessary to meet the modern-day need for trace elements and vitamins. In addition, the two boluses touch each other, ensuring a constant release.
If you are looking for an effective way to support the growth, resistance and health of calves, then the Ferti Grow Start Calf is the perfect choice. The bolus is a cost-effective solution that pays for itself.
Why more and more farmers are choosing a mineral bolus:
Giving a mineral bolus to calves is an effective way to support the health of the herd. Unlike powdered minerals, a bolus is inserted directly into the stomach via a suitable bolus shooter, allowing the minerals to be released continuously for 6 months. This helps to maintain a constant mineral balance and prevent any deficiencies.
One of the advantages of using a bolus is that it is easy to administer. Instead of giving minerals in powder form via the mouth, a bolus only needs to be given once. This saves time and reduces the risk of errors.
Another advantage of a bolus is the improved absorption of minerals. Because the bolus is administered directly into the stomach, the absorption of minerals is improved compared to giving powdered minerals through the mouth.
In addition, the use of a bolus leads to less contamination in the barn, as there is no loss of minerals through the starter feed or the behaviour of the calves.
One of the main advantages of boluses is that they are not dependent on the calf’s taste. This means that ingredients that are not very tasty but are necessary for maintaining the calf’s health, such as certain minerals or vitamins, can be incorporated into the bolus without the calf being aware of it and without depending on whether the calf wants to eat it.
In summary, a mineral bolus offers many advantages for supporting the health of livestock, such as a continuous release of minerals, easy administration, better absorption, less pollution in the stable, and no dependence on the choice of ingredients because palatability is not relevant!
