Over time, rust spots develop on the Sweet Iron bit. This rust tastes sweet and is pleasant to the horse. The horse will salivate more and start foaming, making the bit easier to accept. The bit’s blue color will gradually change to gray/brown, with the rust spots visible on the mouthpiece. Clean the bit with a damp cloth when the spots turn orange. This can happen, for example, if the bit is temporarily unused or stored too damp.
